A-Prompt (Accessibility Prompt) is a software tool designed to improve the usability of your site by evaluating pages for accessibility barriers and then providing you with a fast and easy way to make the necessary repairs. A-Prompt makes sure that sites are accessible to the largest number of users, including those with disabilities. The tool's evaluation and repair checklist is based on accessibility guidelines created and maintained by the W3C. The software is made available through the joint efforts of the University of Toronto's Adaptive Technology Resource Centre (ATRC) and the Trace Centre at the University of Wisconsin. You can select a file for validation and repair. The tool can check for different conformance levels. If A-Prompt detects an accessibility problem, it displays a series of screens to help you fix the problem. Many repetitive tasks are automated, such as the addition of ALT-text or the replacement of server-side image maps with client-side image maps. When you have resolved all potential problems, A-Prompt inserts the repaired HTML code into the page and you can save a new version of the page on you local disk drive.
